Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head to Riyadh tomorrow, January 22, 2018, to participate in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen. The meeting is scheduled to address means to support and coordinate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemen.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid, stated that the Riyadh Meeting reaffirms the commitment of the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen to swiftly respond to the humanitarian needs of our brotherly Yemeni people. It also asserts the commitment of the Egyptian Government and people to standing in solidarity with our brothers in Yemen as they suffer from difficult circumstances. In this regard, the Spokesperson underscored Egypt's keenness on supporting the Yemeni people through the delivery of the humanitarian assistance, and empowering the legitimate government to take control of Yemen’s entire territory.
Abu Zeid explained that Egypt has already provided humanitarian assistance to Yemen, which was delivered through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in Riyadh, and is currently preparing a new package of medical and food assistance. Further, Egypt granted facilitations to the Yemeni community in Egypt to alleviate their suffering, such as giving many scholarships, and other facilitations to accept the admission of Yemeni students in the Egyptian universities, as well as the treatment of a number of Yemenis in critical conditions in the Egyptian hospitals, and the training of Yemeni cadres in the various fields.
