Foreign Minister Meets Director of Geneva Water Hub

On the sidelines of his current visit to Geneva, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on February 27th with the Director of the Geneva Water Hub. They examined joint cooperation and developments of the GERD negotiations.

The Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid, said that, during the meeting, Shoukry reviewed developments with regard to GERD, and the challenges facing the technical cooperation path between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in this context. He also expressed Egypt's aspiration to benefiting from the technical support provided by the Hub in the field of cooperation between the countries sharing international river basins, and affirmed the country’s eagerness to participate with a group of Egyptian experts in the Hub’s seminars on a regular basis, so as they could explain the cooperation progress among the Nile Basin countries and the developments of the GERD negotiations, in addition, to presenting the Egyptian vision on means to enhance cooperation between the Nile basin countries given the challenges facing this region, including the phenomenon of climate change and the rapid population growth.
