In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 9, 2019, The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the Turkish offensive on Syrian territories.

The statement added that this step constitutes a blatant and unacceptable attack on the sovereignty of a sisterly Arab state, taking advantage of its circumstances and ongoing developments, in contravention to the rules of international law. The statement underlined the international community’s responsibility, represented by the Security Council, for addressing such serious development that threatens international peace and security, and halting any attempts aimed at occupying Syrian territories or conducting "demographic engineering" to modify the demographic composition of northern Syria.

The statement also warned of the repercussions of the Turkish move on Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, or on the course of the political process in Syria in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254. In this regard, Egypt called for an emergency meeting of the League of Arab States’ Council to discuss these developments, and means to preserve Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maintain its people’s unity.
