The marking of a century of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Romania, which was celebrated last year 2006, has given a great impetus to the bilateral relations between both countries in all fields, political, economic and cultural, a matter that was certainly witnessed in the exchange of high level visits from both sides, specially the visit of H.E Mr. Traian Basescu President of Romania to Egypt in February 2007 and the visit of H.E Mr. Hosny Moubarak President of The Arab Republic of Egypt to Romania in May 2004.
The Egyptian Romanian relations constitute a strategic and lasting partnership between two important regional players each in its sphere of influence, Egypt being the entry gate of Romania to Africa and the Arab World, and Romania to the European Union and Southeastern Europe.
The steady economic growth and political stability and reform in both countries, and the fact that they have passed through similar experiences were essential and acted as a stimulant for Cairo and Bucharest to further work for the common benefit of the two peoples and to improve their cooperation.
