Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister conducts a visit to Canada

Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Wafaa Bassim conducted a visit to Canada during the period from 1st to 4th June, 2009. Ambassador Bassim met with Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister, Leonardo Edwards and senior officials at the Canadian Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister, and a number of Canadian politicians and parliament members, including Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deepak Obhrai, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Ted Menzies. Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister delivered a message from Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit to his Canadian Counterpart Lawrence Cannon, regarding means of promoting bilateral relations and means to promote it in all fields.  Ambassador Bassim participated, during her visit, at a seminar on the future of the Foreign Ministries around the world, organized by the Canadian Foreign Ministry in Toronto city on 3rd and 4th June 2009.

 

Noteworthy, that the last political consultations session between both countries was held on January 2009, at Ottawa, and was headed by the Egyptian and Canadian Ministers of Foreign Affairs. Also, the upcoming period is to witness intensive visits by officials from both countries.
