Within the framework of the continuous and regular tours of officials from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry concerned with the relations between Egypt and African countries, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa (EFTCA), Ambassador Neveen Al Ashmawy, conducted a tour in a number of African countries, starting with Burkina Faso, where she arrived on Thursday October 18th.
The Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that EFTCA Secretary-General met with a number of Burkinabe officials to discuss technical and development cooperation between Cairo and Ouagadougou, particularly the Burkinabe Deputy Foreign Minister, Burkinabe Minister of Social Action and National Solidarity, and Secretary-General of the Burkinabe Ministry of Health. The discussions reviewed the aspects of cooperation between EFTCA and Burkina Faso, and the Egyptian side focused on reviewing the developments of the Fund's various activities.
On the other hand, the Spokesman added that the Burkinabe side presented its assessment of its benefit from the Fund, highlighting the importance of the role played by the Egyptian doctors in improving health care in Burkina Faso. The Burkinabe side also commended the food, medical, technical and logistical assistances offered by the Fund during the past period, especially after the floods that stroke the country this year.
The Spokesman outlined that the discussions were concluded by agreeing that the Fund will study the possibility of responding to the needs of the Burkinabe side and offering development, technical and logistical assistances, since the Burkinabe side pointed to its food, medical and construction needs. The Spokesman affirmed that stemming from the Egyptian keenness on promoting and enhancing Egyptian-Burkinabe relations in particular, and the Egyptian-African relations in general, the Egyptian side will work on providing all the Burkinabe needs to support development efforts, improve living standards, and respond to the needs of the Burkinabe people as soon as possible.
