Egypt presents urgent assistance to Togo and Liberia

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that Egypt, through the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, presented urgent assistance to Togo and Liberia, within the framework of supporting the two countries alleviate the suffering of their Peoples, as well as providing the necessary food and medical supplies.

The spokesman outlined that Egypt, in response shortage of the basic food supplies in Togo, resulting from the floods witnessed during the past few months, immediately sent food assistance that included 4 containers of rice (around 10 tons) which is considered the main food component to the Togolese people, in addition to the food and medical packages previously offered to Togo during 2007.

Within this framework, Egypt offered medical assistance to the Liberian people, included 31 package of basic medications, about half a ton, to back the efforts exerted by the Liberian Ministry of Health to provide health care to its people and promote health services all over the country, these medication are to be distributed in hospitals and governmental health centers to assist in alleviating the people's suffering. This aid comes in the serious of medical and food assistances Egypt has previously offered to Liberia over the past ten months.

Within the same context, the Spokesman highlighted that the relations between the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa and the continent's countries are being developed, as to establish joint educational, cultural and health projects between the Fund and the African countries and another third donor party, to enhance and promote the trilateral cooperation between Egypt, the international community and the African continent, whether on the level of South-South cooperation or the South and the North.
