Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, Ambassador Neveen El-Ashmawy tours some West African countries

Acting upon Foreign Minister's directives to be closely acquainted with the African brothers needs through conducting field tours, the Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, Ambassador Neveen Ashmawy, reached Senegal at the beginning of her African tour to four countries in West Africa. Ambassador Ashmawy met with Senegalese Ministers of Health, Interior Affairs, Education, Agriculture, Economy, Maritime Transport, Hunting and Fisheries. The Senegalese Ministers hailed Egypt's role and the fund's in supporting the development efforts in Senegal, by delegating Egyptian experts and teachers in the various fields, and by providing training opportunities for the Senegalese cadres, especially the training sessions held by the fund in the Mubarak Police Academy in the fields of money laundering, drugs and terrorism combat.

Ambassador Ashmawy, on her part, proposed to establish an Egyptian medical center in Senegal, pointing to a similar experience in Gabon. She outlined the Fund's readiness to contribute in building the Senegalese capabilities by providing training opportunities for the Senegalese cadres or by dispatching Egyptian experts and physicians to work in Senegal. The fund is also disposed to sustain Senegal by sending logistic assistance and providing educational equipments in the field of computer and information technology, the matter declared by Ambassador Ashmawy in the press conference she held at the end of her visit to Senegal.

During her visit to Gambia, her second foot, Ashmawy met with representatives of ministries of Agriculture, Health, Education, Foreign Affairs and Interior. They tackled the Gambian needs from Egypt which are increasing the training scholarships for the Gambian cadres, and dispatching more Egyptian physicians especially in pediatrics and genecology. In this context, the Secretary General highlighted the Minister's consent to present an assistance package to Gambia, which includes fertilizers and water pumps. She also proposed to establish an Egyptian medical center in Gambia and working to provide the Gambian needs as soon as possible and according to the Fund's program and capabilities.

On her third foot, Ivory Coast, Ashmawy met with her Ivorian counterpart, who welcomed her and hailed Egypt's role, as well as the conclusions of the Ivorian delegation's participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit. The Secretary General affirmed the Fund's support to Ivory Coast and its readiness to fulfill their needs according to the possible capabilities.
