Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa offers assistances to Mali and Sierra Leone

In the context of the pioneering role of the Egyptian policy in the African continent, and focusing on the economic, social, and cultural aspects of concern, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa (EFTCA), Ambassador Nevine Ashmawy, stated that within the framework of supporting food security as one of the most important elements of  political stability in western Africa, EFTCA dispatched three Egyptian experts in the fields of corn, cotton, and vegetables production, as well as developing animal wealth to Mali for three months. The experts were dispatched to Mali to assist in increasing agricultural production, achieving good management of water resources, and qualifying human cadres in these fields.

Moreover, on the level of assisting the African countries to develop the human resources in order to achieve sustainable development in the continent, EFTCA contributed to the reconstruction and restoration of some schools in Sierra Leone, within the framework of the cooperation agreement between EFTCA and the Government of Sierra Leone.

Furthermore, in accordance with the humanitarian dimension of the Egyptian policy, and according to the instructions of Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, EFTCA worked on setting a comprehensive emergency plan to assist the African countries which face floods and natural disasters such as Burkina Faso, Sudan, Somalia, Mauritania, Togo, Ghana, and Uganda.

EFTCA Secretary-General added that this activity comes within the framework of the fund's annual and continuous programs in the field of developing African human cadres in various fields, and assisting Africans in confronting diseases, epidemics, food shortage, and hunger which threaten several African countries.
