Upon the directives of Foreign Minister to promote humanitarian dimension of the Egyptian foreign policy, believing in the importance of supporting African countries to face war crises and food shortage, the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa presents food assistance to El Fasher region - Northern Darfur, Sudan.

The assistance consists of 145 tons of rice, 500 packages of oil, 50 tents, and 1000 blankets, in view of Sudan's strong need for food assistance, due to the increasing violence in the country, which led to displacing many people. Egypt also is keen on supporting relief efforts and supporting the Sudanese people in Darfur at the current phase.

Egypt presents the assistance in light of its commitment during the Arab conference on the humanitarian situation in Darfur October 2007.
