15 August 2007….

In light of the Foreign Minister's instructions to support and enhance technical cooperation with the African countries, as well as helping them fulfill their needs on all levels, the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, which is one of the Egyptian foreign policy's execution tools in the African countries, offered urgent food aid consisting of 240 tons of rice to the Guinean people.

Within the framework of enhancing and consolidating relations with the different peoples and countries of the continent, as well as Egypt's keenness on offering humanitarian assistance, this aid is a contribution from Egypt to alleviate the suffering of the Guinean people, who have suffered from the internal struggles and disputes, as well as the civil wars in their neighboring countries such as Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Cote d'Ivoire, and Liberia. Consequently, these struggles have hindered the development programmes scheduled to be carried out by the President of Guinea Conakry, General Lansana Conte, last year, and resulted in the increase of rice prices.

During the ceremony held at the Guinean Foreign Minister to deliver the aid, Guinean Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Mamady Traore, commended the aid offered by Egypt to support the Guinean people in facing the security crisis the country in currently undergoing.
