Egypt sends several aid packages to a number of African Countries

Within the framework of the continuous aid programme provided by Egypt to African countries facing food shortage problems, the spread of epidemics and diseases resulting from catastrophes, and in light of the Foreign Minister's directives regarding the necessity of responding to the needs of all Africans,         in a manner which reflects the sincerity of Egypt's policy towards Africa, Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical cooperation with Africa, Ambassador Tarek Ghoniem stated that the fund sent several food, medical and logistic aid packages to several African countries including Tanzania, Central Africa, Equatorial Guinea and Somalia in June 2007. Tanzania received medical equipment to rehabilitate the Islamic Center clinic in Darussalam.

Central Africa also received logistic aid including one personal computer,   a printer and photocopying machine during a ceremony at which the first lady of Central Africa voiced her profound appreciation for what Egypt offers her country in all fields, noting Egypt’s quick response to her country’s requirements and needs. Equatorial Guinea also received a food aid package consisting of 120 tons of food supplies to school children and orphanages, which was delivered at a ceremony attended by a host of media people, and the Foreign Minister of Guinea who expressed his gratitude for Egypt’s logistic and technical assistance provided to his country.

In Somalia, a food aid package was delivered consisting of 60 tons of rice and 60 tons of flour and 3 tons of cooking oil to relieve flood victims.   The Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund added that the continuous aid Programme to Africa comes within the framework of historical and brotherly relations as well as Egypt’s regional commitments to assist these countries in overcoming the problems they face, and move towards achieving sustainable development in the African continent.
