Egyptian aids to Mauritania

Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa (EFTCA), Ambassador Tarek Ghoneim, stated that within the framework of the continuous Egyptian aid program offered to the African countries suffering from food shortage, and enhancing the good relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Egyptian Embassy in Nouakchott delivered food and logistic aid to the Mauritanian officials. The aid was presented during an official ceremony attended by the commissioner in charge of social protection in the Mauritanian government, Minister Abdel Rahman Geddo, and comprises of 700 sacks of legumes, 60 tons of rice, 400 boxes of food oil, and 19 tents.

The Mauritanian Minister stated that this generous assistance supports the Mauritanian food security program, and it comes at a time in which the country is suffering from severe deficiency in food stock. He also thanked the Egyptian people and government on behalf of the Mauritanian people and government for this gift which, as he stated, indicates the strength and depth of the bonds between the Egyptian and Mauritanian peoples.

The Mauritanian media was keen on covering the event and highlighting it in the press, television and radio broadcasts, and noted that the Egyptian assistance will undoubtedly contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the commission in charge of social protection and food security, and will assist it in overcoming the food security deficiency. EFTCA Secretary-General added that Egypt's assistance to Mauritania aims at improving the living conditions of the Mauritanian citizens, and embodies the humanitarian dimension of the Egyptian foreign policy.
