Within the framework of the keenness of the Egyptian policy to highlight its credibility towards Africans thorought the Continent on one hand, and get closely acquainted with the needs of African countries from Egyptian experts in different development areas, food, medical and logistic assistance on the other, Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa, Ambassador Neveen Ashmawy, returned from a tour, she was assigned by the Foreign Minister to undertake, which included three Nile Basin countries (Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia) during the period from 19-31 January. During the tour, Ambassador Ashmawy met with Ugandan First Lady, Janet Museveni who thanked and expressed her appreciation to the Egyptian government for the grant offered by the Fund to rehabilitate "Etogo hospital" in Uganda. The Secretary General also met with the Ministers of Health, water and Agriculture in the above mentioned countries, concerned with the Fund's activities to get acquainted with the needs of African countries from Egyptian experts and send their trainees to Cairo to improve their capabilities in different developmental fields.
The Secretary General was keen to meet the Egyptian experts to help overcome the obstacles they face.
The Secretary-General added that the field visits that came upon the Foreign Minister's directives reflect Egypt's pivotal and pioneer role in Africa, not only through responding to relief calls by African countries, but also by acquainting them of Egypt's constant readiness to provide all forms of assistance that help them improve the individual's living standard, eradicate poverty, combat diseases and epidemics and realize sustainable development. |
