During official ceremony held in Bamako the Malian government received a shipment of medical aid from Egypt offered through the African Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa (EFTCA). The ceremony was attended by the personal representative of Malian President, Amado Toumani Toure, head of delegation and Malian First Lady. This aid comes in the context of Egyptian support to the efforts of the Childhood Institution which is sponsored by the Malian First Lady, and aims at providing medication and health care for the Malian children.
The Malian first lady expressed the deep gratitude and appreciation of the Malian people and government, for President Mubarak and his spouse, as well as the Egyptian people and government. She also outlined that this aid will highly contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the Childhood Institution, to shoulder its social responsibility for providing health care, and offering free medication for children. The Malian First Lady also added that this aid complements the efforts exerted by the Egyptian physicians and medical cadres in the Motherhood and Childhood Hospital in Bamako.
The ceremony was widely covered by local media; the Malian television broadcasted the events of the ceremony. The prominent Malian newspapers published it in their front pages, where they all affirmed the depth and strength of mutual cooperation, as well as the solidarity and cordial bonds between both countries.
