An overview of the Fund’s activities during May 2006 First: Tour by the Secretary-General: -         A tour is being arranged for the Fund Secretary-General to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in the period from 11/6 to 23/6/2006. The Foreign Minister also agreed to a tour to Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Moldova in the period from 3/7 to 15/7/2006. -         Meetings are being scheduled with officials from these countries in order to identify their countries' needs as well as to introduce the new Fund strategy, and attempt to achieve the utmost mutual benefit from cooperation with the concerned countries. Second: Meetings in May 2006: A number of meetings were held during this period aiming at enhancing relations between the General Secretariat of the Fund, the Egyptian training centers and the ambassadors and diplomats of the concerned countries, the most important of which were: -         A meeting with the Ambassador of Georgia to Egypt on 7/5/2006 to discuss aspects of cooperation with the Fund. -         The Fund Secretary-General expressed his condolences to the Armenian Ambassador to Egypt on 8/5/2006 after the crash of the Armenian airplane in the Black sea. -        The Assistant Secretary-General met with the Consul of Croatia in Cairo on 8/5/2006 where the Croatian Consul expressed keenness on establishing cooperation between the diplomatic institutes of both countries and in other aspects as well. -         A meeting with Al Ahram Newspaper Deputy Editor-in-Chief on 10/5/2006 to elaborate on the Fund activities. -       The General Secretariat arranged a meeting for the President's Political Advisor, Ambassador Osama Al Baz,  with two Azerbaijani delegations, one of which included members of the Azerbaijani Parliament headed by Head of the social and financial supervision committee in the Parliament, Ms. Malahat Hasanova and member of the Egyptian  Azerbaijani friendship society in the Parliament ,Ms. Rabiyyat Aslanova, in addition to Head of the press and media department in the Foreign Ministry, representatives of Azerbaijani news agencies and the Azerbaijani television. The other delegation included prominent specialists in literature, as well as Arabic and Islamic civilization in Azerbaijan. -         A meeting with Head of the foreign relations committee in the Egyptian Parliament, Ambassador Mostafa El Feky, and other members of the committee on 16/5/2006 to discuss the Fund's budget for the fiscal year 2006/2007. -         A meeting with head of the Advanced Expertise Union Company on 30/5/2006 in order to coordinate training programs. Third: The Training Courses: 1- Republic of Tajikistan The Fund offered a training course in the field of E-Government for 15 trainees at the Egyptian Center for Developing Business Administration in the period from 4 to 15 May. 2- Republic of Albania The Fund offered two training courses for Albanian trainees, one of which offered a course in managing libraries for 20 trainees and was held at the Leadership Preparation and Business Administration Center affiliated to the Ministry of Investment, in the period from 5-19 May. On the other hand, another 15 trainees received their training at Al Ahram Regional Press Institute in the period from 12-26 May. The Albanian side showed great interest in the offered courses, as Egypt and Albania enjoy strong bilateral relations. 3- Republic of Georgia    The Fund offered two training courses in the fields of tourism and police work. 15 Georgian trainees attended the tourism course which was held on 5-18 May at the Faculty of Tourism - Helwan University, while 25 trainees attended the police work course which was held at the Police Academy Research Center in the period from 7 May to 1 June. 4- Republic of Moldova   The Fund offered a training course to 15 trainees in the field of local administration at the Leadership Preparation Center in the period from 10 to 24 May. 5 - Republic of Kyrgyzstan A training course was organized at the Police Research Center (Police Academy), for 25 trainees, in the field of Police work, in the period from 4/5/2006 to 1/6/2006. 6 – Republic of Azerbaijan Three training courses were organized, the first of which was organized in the media field for 15 trainee at Al-Ahram Regional Press Institute, in the period from 5/5/2006 to 18/5/2006.The second was organized for 24 trainees, in the field of Police work, at the Police Research Center (Police Academy), in the period from 5/5/2006 to 1/6/2006. The third was organized for 14 professors and deans, at the Arabic language Cultural Center, in the field of Arabic and Islamic Culture. Fourth: coordinating between the Fund and the relevant Egyptian missions abroad. -         A periodical announcement was sent regarding the needs, proposed programs and training courses, the exchange of experts and visits, as well as the proposed cooperation projects in the countries in which these missions are accredited during the fiscal year 2006/2007. -         A periodical announcement was sent regarding approaching the end of the fiscal year 2005/2006 which included the Fund balance for each mission. -         A periodical announcement was sent regarding dispatching experts to teach the Arabic language in the relevant countries.
