Activities of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Islamic European States and Newly Independent States since the Fund's establishment till February 13, 2007
First: The Republic of Kazakhstan:
•The Fund provided (176) training courses in various fields for (1239) trainees.
•The Fund provided (6) scholarships at the Demographic Center until 1999 (in addition to travel expenses and monthly pocket money).
•The Fund offered the expenses of (15) students at Al-Azhar University (their travel expenses and monthly pocket money) during the academic year 2001-2002.
•The Fund paid the expenses of dispatching (15) short-term experts (traveling expenses and monthly remuneration) in the domains of transportation, establishing charity organization, agricultural products processing, family planning programmes and scientific missions.
•The Fund provided the expenses of (70) long-term Arabic teaching experts (including travel expenses and monthly remuneration). Seven of these experts were dispatched during the academic year 2006 – 2007.
•The Fund provided the expenses of 21 mutual visits for 45 officials in various vital sectors.
•A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Ambassador Ezzat Saad, former Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, and Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, Former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the CIS, visited Kazakhstan on 15 to 18 March 2005, in pursuit of reinforcing bilateral cooperation. This visit came within the framework of a tour that included Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
•The Fund paid the expenses of bringing in two experts for Helwan Non-Ferric Industries Corporation for one year, as of October 1, 1997.
•The Fund paid the expenses of (16) participants in various scientific conferences in the two countries.
•The Fund purchased a photocopier for the Arabic Center at Charkas University on October 2, 2001. The Fund also provided the Center with textbooks, references, and documentary tapes about Egypt for the purpose of strengthening cultural ties.
•The Fund paid the fees for (2) physicians attending the training course on urinary bladder cancer and urinary diversion held at Mansoura University from 12 to 17 November 2005.
•The Secretariat offered the participation fees (US$ 500) for one physician attending the advanced course on kidney transfers and transplants held at Mansoura University from 12 to 16 December 2005.
•The Fund paid US$ 350 for renting a hotel space for an exhibition jointly held by the Egyptian Embassy at Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Goethe Institute to exhibit paintings and statues reflecting the cultural heritage of Egypt.
•In accordance with the instructions of Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Fund’s Secretary-General, Ambassador Wahid EL Din Galal, visited Kazakhstan, in the period from 18 to 21 June 2006, within the framework of a tour, which included Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, to meet senior officials and discuss fields of cooperation within the framework of the Fund’s activities and supporting cooperation with Kazakhstan.
Second: The Republic of Uzbekistan
•The Fund provided (151) training courses in various domains for (848) trainees.
•In cooperation with the Banking Institute, the Fund organized (4) training courses for (29) trainees in Tashkent on "Banks and Marketing Financial Services".
•The Fund contributed with the travel expenses and pocket money for (9) students at the Demographic Center in Cairo; one of the which attended the academic year 2005-2006.
•The Fund contributed with the travel expenses of dispatching (19) short-term experts.
•The Fund provided the expenses of dispatching (36) long-term Arabic teaching experts (travel expenses and monthly remuneration); seven of the which taught during the academic year 2006 – 2007.
•The Fund paid the travel expenses of (22) participants in (10) conferences held in Cairo and Tashkent, including "The Fifth Conference on Nuclear and Particle Physics" held from 19 to 23 November 2005, and “The Fourth Conference of the Egyptian Association for Pediatric Blood Diseases and Tumors” held from 30 to 31 March 2006, under the auspices of the Egyptian First Lady, Mrs. Suzan Mubarak.
•The Fund paid for the travel expenses of (13) officials in various vital sectors within the framework of mutual visits between the two countries.
•A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established under the leadership of Ambassador Ezzat Saad, former Assistant to the Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the CIS. Seeking to reinforce bilateral cooperation, the delegation paid a visit to Uzbekistan from 3 to 4 March 2005, as a part of a tour that covered Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
•The Fund provided the expenses of bringing in (19) officials to compare notes with their Egyptian counterparts in the domains of geology and mineral resources, development of metals, Egyptian foreign affairs, electrical induction in agriculture, and the solar furnace at El-Tibbeen Institute for Metallurgical Studies on 19 February 2006.
•The Fund provided the expenses for participating in the founding meeting for the International Fund of Imam El-Bokhary on April 26, 2000, establishing two centers for teaching the Arabic language, and providing a PC, a TV set, and a receiver to the University of Undijan, the Workers' University for Languages and Samerkent Institute for Languages. It also paid the travel expenses of two Arabic language students and also the travel expenses for (11) winners in the tourism contest about Egypt on October 16, 2000 for one week. In pursuit of strengthening bilateral cultural ties, it furthermore provided the expenses of printing (1000) copies of the "Egypt's Diplomacy" book.
•The Fund contributed toward the erection of a greenhouse for the State University of Agriculture in Tashkent.
•Provided medical aid for the flood survivors in Ferghana Valley on December 1, 1998.
•The Secretariat supplied the Department of Arabic Studies at the University of Economics and Diplomacy in Tashkent with a PC, a receiver and a satellite dish during the fiscal year 2005-2006.
•The Secretariat contributed US$500 for Dr. W.K. Uldachif and Dr. K.A. Abd Ghanief to attend a training course on kidney transfers and transplants at Mansoura University from 12 to 16 December 2005.
•According to the instructions of Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Fund’s Secretary-General, Ambassador Wahid EL Din Galal, visited Uzbekistan, in the period from 21 to 24 June 2006, within the framework of a tour, which aimed at reinforcing bilateral joint cooperation.
•The Fund provided the traveling and accommodation expenses of the Chairwoman of the Businesswomen Committee in Uzbekistan to explore the activities of the Egyptian women in the business field, and to attend “The Development Horizons, and Future of Arab Joint Investment and International Interaction” forum, which was held in Cairo. The Fund also paid for the accommodation and domestic transportation expenses for four businesswomen accompanying the Chairwoman of the Businesswomen Committee, in the period from 2 to 9 December 2006.
Third: The Republic of Tajikistan
•The Fund provided (134) training courses in various domains for (716) trainees.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and pocket money of 12 students at the Demographic Center in Cairo, one of which was during the academic year 2007.
•The Fund provided the traveling expenses of (4) participants in scientific conferences held in Cairo and Tajikistan.
•The Fund provided the traveling expenses of (6) visits by (8) prominent press and media officials in Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
•A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ambassador Ezzat Saad, former Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, and Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, Former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, visited Tajikistan from 12 to 14 March 2005. The visit was part of a tour that included Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to consolidate cooperation with these countries.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and pocket money for Prof. Dr. Ahmed Bahaa Eldin Khairy (First Under-Secretary and Head of the Cultural Affairs and Scholarships Sector of the Ministry of Higher Education) to visit Dushanbe from 8 to 22 September 2005. The aim of the visit was to discuss the establishment of an Egyptian Cultural Center at the Russian Tajikistani Slavonic University in pursuit of enhancing cultural cooperation between Egypt and Tajikistan.
•The Fund provided the expense of providing food and medicinal aid as well as documentary tapes about Egypt for the purpose of enhancing cultural ties between the two countries.
•The Secretariat provided the fee of US$1,000 for Dr. Habibullo Ibmatoulo and Dr. Ismatoulo to attend the advanced training course on kidney transfers and transplants held at the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, from 12 to 16 December 2005.
•Upon the instructions of Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Ambassador Waheed Al Din Galal, visited the Republic of Tajikistan during the period from 28 to 30 June 2006, to get acquainted with the needs of the Tajikistani side in the fields of training and grants, as well as pushing forward the bilateral relations between both countries.
Fourth: Republic of Kyrgyzstan:
•The Fund provided (156) training courses in various domains for (711) trainees.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and pocket money of (6) students at the Demographic Center in Cairo.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration of (4) delegated long-term Arabic experts for the academic years 1995-96 and 1996-1997.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of (8) officials from Kyrgyzstan to help them attend the Conference on Enhancing Economic Cooperation held from 21 to 25 October 1995. Egypt also participated in the meeting held by the Consultative Group of Kyrgyzstan in Paris on 30 May 1995.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for (8) visits by (14) officials from vital sectors (press and media from Kyrgyzstan from 21 - 26 June 1998, and the travel expenses for the Ministry of Manpower of Kyrgyzstan to visit Egypt from 4 to 10 July 1998) within the framework of reciprocal visits between the two countries.
•Ambassador Ashraf ZaaZaa, the General Secretary of the Fund, visited Kyrgyzstan during the first week of November 1999 to meet with senior government officials to discuss the domains of cooperation within the framework of enhancing the Fund's activities.
•A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ambassador Ezzat Saad, former Assistant to the Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, former General Secretary of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, visited Kyrgyzstan from 5 to 7 March 2005. The visit was part of the tour that included Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan for the purpose of consolidating cooperation with the above mentioned countries.
•The Fund provided documentary tapes about Egypt on 8 August 2005 for the purpose of enhancing cultural ties.
•The Fund provided the fees for a physician to attend a training course on urinary bladder cancer and urinary diversion held at Mansoura University from 17 to 27 September 2005.
•The Secretariat provided the fee of US$500 for Dr. Ashimov Jamalbek to attend the advanced training course on kidney transfers and transplants held at the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University from 12 to 16 December 2005.
• Upon the instructions of the Foreign Minister, former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Ambassador Waheed Al Din Galal, visited Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, during the period from 24 to 27 June 2006, to get acquainted with the needs of the Kyrgyzstani side in the training field, as well as pushing the bilateral relations forward.
Fifth: The Republic of Turkmenistan:
•The Fund provided (88) training courses in various domains for (220) trainees.
The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses for (7) officials to attend 3 conferences. One on pediatric hepatic and alimentary tract diseases from 10 to 22 December 1996. The second was the First Conference for Enhancing Economic and Commercial Cooperation between Egypt and the Independent Commonwealth States organized by the Fund's Secretariat from 12 to 25 October 1998. The third being the conference organized by the “Friends Organization” in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from 26 to 28 November 1997.
•The Fund provided the traveling and accommodation expenses of (9) officials from Egypt within the visit-exchange framework on the political and economic levels for the purpose of enhancing cooperation.
•A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ambassador Ezzat Saad, former Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, former Secretary General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, visited Turkmenistan from 8 to 11 March 2005. The visit was part of the tour that included Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan for the purpose of consolidating cooperation with these countries.
•The Fund provided for documentary tapes about Egypt for the purpose of enhancing cultural ties.
•The Fund provided the fees for a physician to attend the training course on urinary bladder cancer surgery and urinary diversion held at Mansoura University from 17 to 24 September 2005.
• The Fund paid USD 500 for Professor Hadzhiev to attend the training course for nasal surgery, in Mansoura University, during the period form 1 to 7 November 2006.
Sixth: Republic of Mongolia:
•The Fund provided for (72) training courses in various domains for (694) trainees.
•The Fund provided the expenses of two students who studied the Arabic language at Cairo University during the academic year 1998-1999.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly pocket money of a student at the Demographic Center in Cairo in 2003.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for dispatching (8) short-term experts in the domains of medium and small enterprises, agriculture, the establishment of a social fund to serve the region of Bayan Ogli.
•The visit of Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud El-Said, former Deputy Secretary General of the Fund to Mongolia, from 7 to 11 December 1997, to discuss how the Fund can provide technical assistance and studies to enhance economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
•The Fund provided the expenses of the visit of Ambassador Ashraf Zaazaa, former Secretary-General of the Fund, to Mongolia from 21 to 24 June 1999, to represent Egypt in the meetings of the Seventh Conference of Donors to Mongolia upon the invitation of the World Bank.
· The Fund offered aid in the form cattle fodder to help the country overcome the consequences of the drought which led to the death of over 3 million cattle on 7 of February 2001. The fund also offered documentary tapes on Egypt.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of a delegation of (5) experts from the Ministry of Agriculture. The delegation visited Mongolia for one month as of 13 May 2001 in order to start the Egyptian-Mongolian farm project.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of (8) visits to Egypt by 13 officials within the framework of exchanged visits (the Personal Envoy of the Prime Minister and General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 24 to 27 January 1999, Mongolia's First Lady from 21 to 24 February 1999, Under-Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and his delegation from 7 to 11 June 1999, the Under-Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and his wife from 22 to 24 November 2000, a delegation from the Social Committee of Poverty Reduction from 1 to 6 February 2000, the President of Mongolia at the end of April 2004).
•The Fund provided the expenses of the visit made by the Under-Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and two associates who were guests of the Fund Secretariat from 27 to 28 June 2005, as well as the accommodation expenses of a Mongolian MP and his wife during their visit to Cairo from 26 to 27 November 2005.
•Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, former Secretary General of the Fund, visited Mongolia from 4 to 6 July 2005. The visit was part of the tour that included Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan for the purpose of reassessing and reactivating the Fund's programmes. He met with senior officials and discussed ways of enhancing relations between the two countries, as well as the domains in which experts or training courses are most needed.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (18) candidates from the Mongolian Ministry of Agriculture and Industry to attend a programme on animal production from 1/10 to 15/12, 1999, a programme on poultry health and products from 15/1 to 30/3/2000, a programme on vegetable production from 15/2 to 4/5/2000, a programme on animal health and products from 1/10 to 15/12/2000, and a programme on cotton production from 14 to 15 June 2001.
•The Fund provided the expenses of delegating two members from the embassy in Peking to Ulan Batar in order to select Mongolia's candidates for studying at Al-Azhar University from 11 June 2001 to 18 February 2004.
•In accordance with the instructions of the Foreign Minister, former Secretary-General of the Fund, Ambassador Waheed El-Dein Galal visited Mongolia during the period from 12 to 15 September 2006, within the framework of a tour to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, aiming at enhancing cooperation with these countries, as well as getting acquainted with their needs.
Seventh: The Republic of Armenia:
•The Fund provided for (171) training courses in various domains for (1253) trainees.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remunerations of a long-term delegated expert in the Arabic language, during the period from the academic year 2005/2006 to 2006/2007.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly pocket money of (6) students at the Demographic Center until 2004.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses to delegate (5) short-term experts.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses and attendance fees of (10) participants in (5) conferences (representing Egypt in the meetings of the Consultative Group of Armenia at the World Bank in Paris on 22 November 1994 in order to introduce Egypt's domains of expertise. A female physician participated in the symposium on pediatric hepatic and alimentary tract diseases in Cairo from 20 to 22 December 1996. The Fund also provided the travel expenses of an expert attending the Radiation Physics Symposium in Cairo from 5 to 9 November 2000.
· The Fund provided the travel expenses of (6) physicians from Armenia to participate in the International Conference for Alimentary Tract Tumors from 21 to 23 October 2004 in cooperation with Suez Canal University. The Fund also provided the attendance fees of a female Armenian physician who participated in the conference held at Mansoura University from 20 to 25 November 2004.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (15) participants within the framework of exchange visits for (31) officials in various vital sectors in the two countries.
•Ambassador Ali Galal Basyouni, the Fund's Former Secretary General, visited Armenia from 26 to 28 June 2005. The visit was part of the tour that included Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Mongolia for the purpose of reassessing and reactivating the Fund's programmes. He met with senior officials and discussed ways to enhance relations between the two countries, as well as the domains in which they require experts or training courses.
•The Fund provided the expenses of bringing over two experts from the Ijevan Institution for Computer Research to the Ministry of Defense to provide technical assistance in matters pertaining to air defense.
•The Fund provided the expenses of educational programmes and hardware as well as a set of textbooks and references.
•The Fund provided the expenses of inviting an Armenian artist to participate in the Exhibition of “Armenians of Egyptian Roots” from 11 to 24 September 1997. The Fund also provided the travel and accommodation expenses of a media delegation from 9 to 26 December 2002, and the travel and accommodation expenses of an Armenian researcher to collect scientific material for his research entitled "Egypt's Foreign Policy in the Levant" from 27 September to 9 October 2003. The Fund also financed (3) TV episodes about Egypt aired on Armenian television on 12 July 2003 and provided for documentary tapes on Egypt on 29 April 2004 for the purpose of enhancing cultural ties.
•The Minister Plenipotentiary Ehab Hammouda, Deputy Secretary General, represented the Fund in the meetings of the Egyptian-Armenian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation headed by H.E. Ms. Fayza Abulnaga, Minister of International Cooperation from 6 to 8 December 2005 in Cairo.
•The Fund provided the expenses of shipping medicine and medical supplies granted by the Relief Committee to support a pediatric hospital in Armenia on 28 December 2005. The expenses amounted to LE 36,005.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of (4) scientists for one week to attend the symposium on "Armenian Scientists and Alexandria Library" held in Alexandria which coincided with the Armenian Scripts Exhibition held at the Alexandria Library from 3 to 6 February 2006. They were accommodated at the Shepherd Hotel in Cairo from 3 to 6 February 2006 and at the Helnan Palestine Hotel in Alexandria from 7 to 9 February 2006.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al-Gamhorya and Editor of the diplomatic section, Muhammad Ismail Khatab, during his mission in the period from 24 to 27 June 2006.
•In accordance with the instructions of the Foreign Minister, former Secretary-General of the Fund, Ambassador Wahid El-Din Galal visited Armenia during the period from 12 to 15 September 2006, within the framework of his tour to Magnolia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, with the objective of enhancing cooperation with those countries.
•The Fund contributed $3000, on 12 February 2007, to support the pediatric eye diseases established in 1929 by Nubar Basha one of the greatest Egyptian politicians who descends from an Armenian origin.
Eighth: The Republic of Albania:
•The Fund provided for (100) training courses in various domains for (1441) trainees.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly pocket money of (6) students at the Demographic Center in Cairo until 2004.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration of an expert in teaching the Arabic language at the Egyptian school in Albania starting from the academic year 2005-2006 till the academic year 2006/2007.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (10) physicians to attend (3) conferences held in Cairo. Six of them participated in the Eighth International Conference for Alimentary Tract Cancer at Stella di Mare Resort at Ain Sokhna in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. The Fund also provided the attendance fees of (3) physicians in the kidney and urology programme at Mansoura University. A physician participated in the International Symposium of the Egyptian Association for hematology and pediatric tumors.
•The Fund provided the visiting expenses of (3) officials within the exchanged visits programme between the two countries. It provided the accommodation expenses of (3) persons in the delegation accompanying the Foreign Minister of Albania and the travel and accommodation expenses of Ambassador Mohamed Shaaban, Counselor to the Minister, to give lectures at the Albanian Diplomatic Academy.
•Dr. Mohamed Ghoneim, Professor of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, was delegated to discuss the Albanian medical system, examine some of the patients, and give lectures from 25 to 30 July 2005.
•The Fund provided the traveling expenses of two students from Albania to acquire knowledge concerning the protocol of preparing patients before kidney transplant operations in cooperation with Mansoura University from 26 September to 3 October 2005.
•The Fund provided the expenses of shipping a package of teaching aids to the Arabic language school in Tirana and provided for documentary tapes about Egypt for the purpose of enhancing cultural ties.
•The Secretariat contributed US$1500 for three physicians to attend the advanced training course on kidney transfers and transplants at Mansoura University from 12 to 16 December 2005.
•Former Secretary-General of the Fund of Technical Co-operation with Commonwealth, Ambassador Wahid El-Din Galal, visited Albania in the period from 3 to 6 July 2006, within the framework of his tour to Sarajevo, Macedonia, and Moldova, in order to enhance cooperation with those countries.
Ninth: Republic of Azerbaijan:
•The Fund provided (180) training courses for (1142) trainees in various domains.
•The Fund provided travel expenses (annual travel tickets + pocket money and living expenses) for (7) students in the Demographic Center in Cairo, until 2004.
•The Fund provided the pocket money and travel expenses for a student from the Azeri Ministry of Labor and Social Security, who received a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine – Ain Shams University in 2000.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses to delegate (5) experts for short term periods
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for (65) senior officials working in the vital sectors of both countries within the framework of the exchanged visits.
•Ambassador Ali Galal Bassiouni, former Fund Secretary General, visited Azerbaijan from 30/6/2005 to 3/7/2005, as a part of a tour which also included Armenia – Georgia – Mongolia, in order to reassess and activate the Fund programmes, where he met senior officials and reviewed possible ways for boosting bilateral relations, as well as the needed experts and training courses.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and subscription fee of (11) participants to attend the “Conference on Promoting Economic and Commercial Cooperation between Egypt and the CIS”, organized by the Fund Secretariat from 21-25/10/1998.
•The Fund provided costs for providing the Orientalist Institute of the Scientific Research Academy in Azerbaijan with a computer system and the relevant accessories in 1997/1999.
•The Fund offered food aid worth LE50,000 on 12/7/1997, and medicine aid worth LE100,000 on 25/6/1999, food and humanitarian supplies at the amount of US$500 on 20/1/2003, as well as food assistance (sacrificial sheep meat) on 12/1/2004 and 4/1/2005.
•The Fund presented documentary tapes about Egypt for the purpose of promoting cultural relations, as well as a collection of books and references on the Arabic language, Arabic literature and history of Egypt on 5/10/2000.
•The Fund provided the accommodation expenses of two companions to the Azeri Minister of Foreign Affairs during his visit to Cairo from 14 to 16/10/2005.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of two Azeri journalists (Mr.Fadel Abbasof, the editor-in-chief of Azeri News, and Mr. Saket Mohammedov, the vice chairman of the Azeri state news agency) during their visit to Egypt, with the security staff, in order to discuss matters relating to publishing, media, tourism, and promotion of Egypt's role and civilization. The visit took place in the period from 1/12/2005 to 6/12/2005.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of the Head of Human Rights Committee at the Azeri Parliament Mrs. Rabiyyat Aslanova, and Chairman of the Public Union of Women at the Azeri Parliament Mrs. Malahat Hasanova during the period from 15 May to 11 June 2006 during their visit to Egypt to meet with the Political Advisor of the President, Dr. Osama AL Baz, former Secretary-General of the Fund Ambassador Wahid El-Din Galal, and the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, as well as members of the People’s Assembly, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Ambassador Dr. Mostafa El Fekki, and Head of the Legislation Committee at the People’s Assembly, Dr. Amaal Osman.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of Deputy Editor-in-chief of Al Gomhoria Newspaper and Editor of the diplomatic section, Muhammad Ismail Khatab, during his mission in the period from 29 June to 3 July 2006.
•In accordance with the instructions of the Foreign Minister, former Secretary-General of the Fund, Ambassador Wahid El-Din Galal paid a visit to Azerbaijan on 10-11 September 2006, within the context of a tour to Mongolia, Armenia, and Georgia, with the objective of supporting cooperation with these countries.
Tenth: Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina:
•The Fund offered (129) training courses to (1653) trainees in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses, as well as the monthly pocket money of (341) students to study at Al Azhar University, and a two-year scholarship to a student who is currently doing her M.A. at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly pocket money of (5) scholars at the Demographic Center in Cairo until 2001.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration of (37) experts for short term periods.
•The Fund provided the expenses (travel tickets + monthly remuneration) for delegating (11) Arabic-teaching experts for long periods, including (3) experts delegated during the current academic year 2006/2007.
•The Fund provided the traveling expenses for (23) senior officials within the framework of the exchanged visits between both countries.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for two members of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sarajevo, to participate in the symposium organized by the Egyptian Society for Animal Production in Alexandria. The Fund has also provided the travel expenses for (5) physicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the International Symposium on Digestive Tract Tumors.
•The Fund provided a financial contribution amounting to US$3000 to provide the Bosnia library in the Hague with machines and equipment on 23/12/1996. Further, it has also provided the amount of US$1800 to organize the Egypt Day at Mousa Chazime Elementary School. This is in addition to presenting the Faculty of Agriculture, Sarajevo University with a collection of references worth US$5622, during the month of November 1998.
•The Fund provided LE222,040 (equivalent to US$65,306) representing the value of medical equipment, medicines and prosthetic devices, on 24/5/1997.
•The Fund provided the amount of DM 35,000, (equivalent to US$19,553), representing the value of purchasing agricultural seeds which were then distributed among returnees to plant their lands.
•The Fund provided the purchase value of furniture for ten classrooms in the first secondary school in Sarajevo, amounting to DM 4,170.
•The Fund provided the expenses for renovating and maintaining Sarajevo Secondary School at the cost of DM 9,500, (equivalent to US$5,307) on 4/5/1999.
•The Fund provided the expenses for funding the physics lab in the first Bushnak School at the cost of DM 6,584.
•The Fund provided the expenses for funding the completion of the medical clinic in East Douboi area, at the cost of DM 23,219.
•The Fund provided the value for providing a breast-scanning machine to Bihac Hospital at the amount of DM 70,000.
•The Fund annually provides US$ 56,000 for cultural activities (a programme for supporting Arabic language courses – Financial Grants - Egyptian Days), since the fiscal year 2002/2003 till 2005/2006.
•The Fund provided US$ 5000, for furnishing the Egyptian Chamber in the National Library, on 11 July 2006. The “Egyptian Chamber” which was equipped by the Embassy and financed by the Fund, was inaugurated on 31 June 2006.
•The Fund contributed to the reconstruction projects of Bosnia as follows:
- First Project: on 24/6/1997, the first emergency hospital buildings in Elidga, Sarajevo was restored and renovated, in addition to the renovation, maintenance and completion of Mousa Chazime Chatic School, downtown Sarajevo, at a total cost of DM 600,000.
- Second Project : on 23/6/1998, restoration and renovation of a residential area at a total cost of DM 300,000 in the following manner:
a. Restoration, finishing and renovation of a residential area (14 houses) in Elidga District, Sarajevo.
b. Restoration, renovation and maintenance of a bakery production unit in downtown Sarajevo.
- Third Project: on 25/6/2000, the existing buildings and the old minaret of Eliash City mosque were restored in order to serve as an "Egyptian Islamic Center", which comprises a school and a medical clinic, at a total cost of DM 300,000.
- Fourth Project: on 31/12/2000, the construction and preparatory works of Fanic City mosque were completed and prepared at a total cost of DM 86,900.
- Fifth Project: on 5/9/2001, the building of Bosnaski Corpi Directorate was funded and renovated at a total cost of DM 290,400.
•Former Secretary-General of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Ambassador Wahid El-Din Galal, visited Sarajevo during the period from 9 to 12 July 2005, within the framework of a tour that included Albania, Macedonia, and Moldova, with the objective of enhancing cooperation with these countries.
•The Fund provided the expenses for the participation fee of a physician who attended a training course on urinary bladder cancer and urinary diversion, organized at Mansoura University Faculty of Medicine from 17 – 23/9/2005.
•The Fund provided the participation fees of two physicians who attended a training course on pediatric urinary surgery, Mansoura University, from 12-17/11/2005.
•The Fund provided the expenses for the accommodation, internal transportations and the book fair visit by sixteen persons from major publishing houses in Bosnia, the Bosnian national libraries, as well as colleges involved in Arabic and Islamic studies, for a period of one week, in order to visit Cairo International Book Fair in the period from 21-27/1/2006.
•The Fund provided the value of a return-ticket for the participation of Dr. Farouq Mohammed Wahba Al Gibali, Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, in Sarajevo Winter Festival, from 15-24 February 2006.
•The Fund provided the participation fees of a physician (US$ 500) to attend a training course in urinary bladder cancer and urinary diversion at Mansoura University during the period from 4 to 11 March 2006.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of Director of Bosnia National and University Library, Enes Kujundzic. Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted Dr. Kujundzic for 15 days within the framework of Suzan Mubarak‘s project for Exchanging Cultures, during the period from 7 to 20 March 2006.
•The Fund provided US$ 1347 for printing 300 copies of the “Muslims Destiny” Book.
•The Fund provided the expenses of traveling and the accommodation for the general director of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ismet Ovina for his participation in the Cairo International Book Fair during the period from 27/1/2007 to 4/2/2007.
Eleventh: Republic of Georgia:
•The Fund provided (181) training courses to (1361) trainees in different fields.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (17) experts to work for short periods (a delegation from the National Research Center, May 1995, delegations from the banks, agriculture, and embassy security 15/7-15/8/1995, restoration and maintenance of antique carpets, ceramics and paintings 22/4-1/5/1998, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the field of protocol, 21-29/9/1998, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Cairo University, 25/10-4/11/2000).
•The Fund provided the monthly pocket money of (4) students in Cairo University during the academic year 2002/2003.
•The Fund provided the value of travel tickets + monthly pocket expenses of (19) scholars at the Demographic Center in Cairo until 2007.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration for (16) Arabic language experts for long periods, including (3) experts, for the academic year 2006/2007.
•Two physicians were recruited for three weeks, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Universities and the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, in order to exchange expertise in the field of "pediatric medicine- public health- chest diseases- medical statistics”.
•The Fund provided travel expenses for four participants in medical symposia for pediatric liver and digestive tract diseases, an expert on plasma physics, an expert from the Mathematics Institute of the Georgian Science Academy, to attend the 5th Conference for Nuclear and Particle Physics in cooperation with the Nuclear Energy Authority in the period from 19 to 23/11/2005, as well as a physician to attend the fourth session of the International Conference of the Egyptian Association of Blood Disease and Tumors in Children during the period from 30 to 31 March, under the auspices of Egypt's First Lady, Mrs. Susan Mubarak.
•The Fund provided the traveling expenses of (7) senior officials from both sides within the framework of exchanged visits (Under-secretary of Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the accompanying delegation, 27/2-4/3/1998, President of Tbilisi University and his deputy, 5-9/4/1999, the Egyptian Secretary General of the Fund, 16-17/9/1999).
•Ambassador Ali Galal Basiouni, former Secretary General of the Fund, visited Georgia in the period from 28-30/6/2005 (as a part of a tour which also included Armenia- Azerbaijan- Mongolia) to re-evaluate and activate the Fund programmes, to meet senior officials and discuss possible ways of promoting bilateral relations as well as the needed experts and training courses.
•The Fund provided the participation fee of a physician to attend the kidney and urinary tract programme, Mansoura University, 20-25/11/2004.
•The Fund provided the value of procuring educational systems and programmes in support of Kotiasi University in Georgia, and a complete computer system for Tbilisi University, in addition to presenting books and documentary tapes on Egypt on 8/8/2005.
•The Fund provided the airfare of the media expert Ambassador Mohamed Ismaeil Khatab, vice chairman of the Gomhoria newspaper, head of the Diplomatic Department in the paper and its correspondent in the MFA, to hold a brief mission in the second half of June 2006.
•In accordance with the instructions of Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Ambassador Ali Galal Basiouni, Secretary General of the Fund, visited Georgia during the period from 12 to 14 September 2006, as a part of a tour which also included Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia in order to boost cooperation with these countries.
Twelfth: Federal Republic of Russia:
•The Fund provided (86) training courses to (305) trainees in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses, pocket money and accommodation of two scholars at the Demographic Center in Cairo, until 2000.
•The Fund provided the value of a grant at Cairo University for a student from Dagestan (travel tickets + pocket expenses) during the academic year 2003/2004. Furthermore, it provided the monthly pocket expenses for a student from Tatarstan at Al Azhar University from the academic year 2002/2003 to 2005/2006.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration to delegate (9) experts for short periods.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (23) senior officials for (17) visits within the framework of the exchanged visits
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses for the recruitment of (6) experts from (Moscow Textile Academy, from 30/3 – 3/5/1995, designing and maintaining laser machines from 12-19/10/1995, Research Center for Advanced Construction Materials).
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for (21) participants in (8) symposia held in Cairo and Moscow.
•The Fund provided the value of (4) travel tickets and pocket money for three physicians in the period from 25/10- 8/11/2005, and a lady doctor from 6-11/11/2005 to visit the Russian Scientific Center for Liver Transplant, in order to establish cooperation with the mentioned center to obtain training in the practical observation of the liver transplant surgery, as well as become better-acquainted with this advanced technology.
•The Fund provided the fees for the participation of three physicians to attend the training course on pediatric urinary surgery, Mansoura University, 12- 17/11/2005.
•The Fund provided travel expenses of (5) Russian war veterans from 17 -24/11/2005 in order to meet their counterparts in Cairo.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses for the chief of the relativity nuclear physics sector at the United Institute for Physics Research in Dobna, to attend the 5th Conference for Nuclear and Particle Physics, held by the Egyptian Society for Nuclear Physics in Cairo, in cooperation with the Nuclear Energy Authority, 19-23/11/2005.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and accommodation of (3) Russian and Chechnyan physicians to participate in the annual conference of the Egyptian Society for Urinary Tract Physicians, held in Sharm El Sheikh, 6-12/12/2005.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of two Russian experts from Korshatov Institute in order to activate the Egyptian Tukamac project, one of the fields which holds the attention of the Egyptian Nuclear Energy Authority. The experts are Dr.Youri Joot (for two weeks) and Dr.Michael Dermine (for four weeks) as of 12 January 2006.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses on Aeroflot Airlines, Business Class for Prof. Goatee, S.F, a world-renowned liver expert from the National Center for Surgical Research, the Russian Medical Science Academy, and his deputy (and wife), to visit the Public Authority for Educational Hospitals and Institutes in Cairo, from 21-24/2 /2006.
Thirteenth: Republic of Belarus:
•The Fund provided (126) training courses for (62) trainees in various fields.
•The Fund paid for the travel tickets and monthly remuneration of (10) Arabic teaching experts for long periods until end of the academic year 2003/2004.
•The Fund paid for the travel tickets and monthly pocket expenses of (10) scholars at the Demographic Center in Cairo.
•The Fund Invited Undersecretary of the Belarus Ministry of Foreign Affairs to visit Cairo, within the framework of promoting and developing bilateral relations.
•Ambassador Ashraf Zazaa, Former Secretary-General of the Fund, visited Belarus in the period from 19 - 23/9/1999, representing Egypt at the Minsk Conference.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses of (7) senior officials in vital sectors in both countries, within the framework of exchanged visits (Undersecretary of the Belarus Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Mr. Fathi Al Shazli, Director of the Arabic Language Center at the Faculty of Literature).
•The Fund presented documentary tapes on Egypt to the relevant authorities to boost cultural relations.
Fourteenth: Republic of Ukraine:
•The Fund provided (174) training courses for (1322) trainees in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel and monthly pocket expenses of (5) students at the Demographic Center in Cairo, including a student during the academic year 2005.
•The Fund provided the travel and monthly pocket money of (11) students (3 students in Cairo University during the year 2003/2004, 8 students studying in Al Azhar University, including a student during the academic year 2005/2006).
•The Fund provided the 4-year academic expenses of Ahmad Abu El Fotoh Hamouda, member of the educational mission of Zaqaziq University, in his studies for the M.A. and PhD degrees in the field of crop technology at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Kiev, as of May 2005.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses to delegate (17) experts for short periods in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and monthly remuneration of (48) Arabic-teaching experts for long periods, including (7) experts during the academic year 2005/2006.
•The Fund provided the travel and accommodation expenses of (19) participants in (11) symposia.
The Fund provided the travel expenses of (31) senior officials in vital sectors of both countries within the framework of exchange visits.
•The Fund provided travel and accommodation expenses to hire 59 experts in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel expenses and pocket money for (5) Ukrainian professors who participated in the Egyptian-Ukrainian workshop on advanced ceramics, held at the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology in 8-15/11/2001.
•The Fund provided the accommodation expenses of (8) professors from Vilatov Institute in Odessa, to attend the Scientific Week at the Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery Center, Mansoura University, 22/10-1/11/2001.
•The Fund provided the value of (3) travel tickets for professors from Manousra University to attend a conference at Odessa Institute, 15-22/5/2005.
•The Fund provided the value for procuring (6) computers, CD ROM, a receiver (a modem for the Egyptian embassy in Kiev in 1999, a scanner in 2001, a computer and all its accessories in 2001, Kiev Mohila University 2002, Tavria National University 2002, the Islamic Center School 13/3/2005), in addition to a collection of educational, cultural, literary and religious books, documentary tapes and publicity materials on Egypt to the various authorities, within the framework of cultural and scientific cooperation.
•The Fund offered assistance in the electricity field to alleviate the hurricane disaster impacts during the year 2001.
•The Fund provided the value of (3) travel tickets for three experts from Ukraine in order to connect and operate a welding furnace through plasma arch at the Metal Research and Development Center, 18-31/7/2005.
•The Fund provided USD 5,000 to procure a computer and printer at a total price of 4,765.50 hryvnia, equivalent to the amount of US$953, a television and a video to help establish the Egyptian Cultural Center at the University of Shifshkino in Kiev.
Fifteenth: Republic of Moldova:
• The Fund provided (137) training courses for (534) trainees in various fields.
•The Fund provided the travel and monthly pocket money of (6) students at the Demographic Center in Cairo, until 2004.
•The Fund provided the expenses of delegating (3) Arabic language experts (travel ticket + monthly remuneration), including an expert during the academic year 2006/2007
•The Fund paid for the travel expenses to delegate the Director of the Human Resources Department, of the OUDA in order to follow up the training already completed, and renew future training needs.
•The Fund provided the expenses of the visit of the Moldova Ambassador to Turkey, non resident in Cairo, to submit his credentials
