5 October 2008…. Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Hossam Zaki stated that Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit headed an Egyptian delegation to Baghdad, on October 5th, for a one-day visit. The Spokesman said that this visit is the first for an Egyptian Foreign Minister to Iraq since 1991. The visit aims at consolidating the Egyptian-Iraqi communication on the official level and highlighting Egypt’s great concern about Iraq, as well as the developments and events it witnesses in the various fields. The Minister is to meet with Iraqi leaders and senior officials, during his one-day visit, to exchange points of view on the means to enhance and develop Egyptian-Iraqi relations, and the situation in the Middle East, Arab Mashriq and Gulf Area, outlined the Spokesman.
