The Arab Republic of Egypt joined the International Convention against “Transnational Organized Crime” approved in the Palermo Conference held in Italy from 11-15 December 2000. The Convention came into force on 4 April 2004.
Egypt joined the Protocol on illegal smuggling of immigrants by land, sea and air. The Protocol is supplementary to the Agreements signed in the field of Organized Crime Prevention adopted by the UN on 15/11/2000. and came into force as of 31/3/2005. Egypt also signed the Protocol annexed to the above mentioned Agreement concerning Child and Women trafficking which was adopted during the Palermo Conference, and came into force as of April 4th 2004.
