4 October 2007….

The 29th Ministerial Meeting of the G-15 was held in New York on 28 September 2007, in which Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Raoof Saad headed the Egyptian delegation as representative of Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The meeting focused on issues of trade and investment between Group members, and the necessity to choose certain economic projects that would accomplish the objectives and common interests for these countries. The experts’ report on this matter referred to the failure of some projects because of the absence of feasibility studies, lack of sufficient consultation with experts as well as lack of necessary funding.

The Egyptian delegation demanded adding an article to the agenda that discusses the future of the Group, and reviews its currents status and achievements.  This came in the light of the experts' report about the failure of some projects, the necessity of  putting specific standards to prioritize the projects needed to fulfill the interests of the group, and to simplify the institutional structure of the Group, in addition to separating between countries’ political orientations and means of cooperation in the framework of the Group.
