Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation visited Tokyo during the period from 18-22 December 2007, to hold consultations with senior Japanese officials on bilateral and international economic issues and deliver a written message from the Foreign Minister to his Japanese counterpart
The Ambassador also met with several senior officials at the Japanese Foreign Ministry as well as Senior officials from the Ministry of Economy , Trade and Industry , as well as the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) , Japan External Trade Organization(JETRO), and several Japanese businessmen keenly interested in Egypt.
The Ambassador’s talks with the Japanese officials tackled several international economic issues including Climate change, the Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations, the prospects of trilateral cooperation between Egypt and Japan in African, Arab and Asian countries, as well as the fourth TICAD Summit which will be hosted by Japan during the period from 28-30 May ,2008.
The talks also tackled Japanese investments in Egypt, promoting trade exchange between the two countries, and accelerating the adoption of the executive procedures for the Egyptian Japanese University for Science and Technology (E-JUST) in light of designating 2008 a year for scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and Japan. |
