Egypt is to participate in the Tripartite High-Level Meeting on following up the implementation of Peace Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). The meeting is scheduled to be held in Jeddah, during the period from 10 to 12 November 2007.
Egypt joined the Contact Committee concerned with the conditions of Muslims and the efforts of establishing peace in South Philippines during the 34th Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), which was held in Islamabad, in May 2007.
Egypt joined the committee within the framework of its keenness on playing an active role in the issues of the Islamic world and Muslims all over the world, and within the framework of the Philippine side's welcoming of Egypt's accession to the committee, in addition to the confidence of the Philippine Government and MNLF in the neutrality of the Egyptian mediation and that Egypt will contribute to activating the role of the Contact Committee, affiliated to the OIC, in order to push forward the efforts of establishing peace in south the Philippines.
Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for ASEAN and South-East Asia Affairs will represent Egypt in the meeting. |
