The Egyptian Embassy in Hanoi legalized the documents of a 3.6 million dollar business transaction, under which the International Coke Company in Alexandria would import Coke from the Vietnamese group for Coke and Mining .The transaction is the second of its kind between the Egyptian and the Vietnamese sides, and amounting to the same value, which is an indication of the start of an active bilateral trade between both countries in the fields of import and exporting coal, and is also considered a good beginning for the volume of trade at the start of 2007. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Ali ElHefni stated that the year 2006 witnessed a great momentum in the development of Egyptian Vietnamese relations, which is progressing at an increasing pace in many fields, particularly in the commercial field, which can be illustrated as follows: - Holding the second round of the Egyptian Vietnamese joint committee from 4-5 March 2006 during the Vietnamese Minister of Trade’s visit to Egypt. - A visit paid by the Vietnamese Administrative Control Authority to Egypt in September 2006 in return for a similar visit by an Egyptian delegation in April 2006. - A visit paid by the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Trade and other ranking officials from 15 through 18 December 2006 to negotiate with the Union for Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to promote trade exchange between Egypt and Vietnam.
