Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Ali El-Hefni, will head Egypt’s delegation at the Senior official’s fifth meeting of the Chinese-African Cooperation Forum which will be held on 1-2 November in Beijing. The Ministerial Meeting, which is the third of its kind, will be held on 3 November. The first Ministerial Meeting was held in 2000 in Beijing, while the second was held in 2003 in Addis Ababa.
The Senior official’s meetings are expected to study the draft declaration of the Chinese - African extraordinary Summit scheduled to be held on 4-5 November, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Chinese–African relations, which date back to 1956. The meetings will also discuss the Chinese-African plan of action for 2006-2009, which will tackle all aspects and means of promoting bilateral cooperation in this phase in the field of communications, information, commerce, investment, Agriculture, Health, education, scientific research, and other fields.
The Senior Officials' consultations will also review the Agenda of the third Ministerial meeting, and will determine the location in which the fourth Ministerial meeting will be held. Egypt has offered to host the meeting in 2009, upon which a resolution was issued from the African Union Summit in Abuja in January 2005, and China welcomed the proposal. |
