Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian relations visits Turkmenistan within the framework of a tour in Central Asia

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Tamer Khalil visited Turkmenistan from 7 to 9 February,2008 within the framework of his current tour in Central Asia . Members of the accompanying Egyptian delegation met with a number of Turkmen officials with whom they discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations in all fields, and exchanged points of view on regional developments of mutual concern.

The meetings included a meeting  with TurkmenAssistant Prime Minister and   Foreign Minister, where it was agreed to hold the meetings of the first round of the Egyptian Turkmen joint committee in October 2008.Ambassador Tamer Khalil also  met with Deputy Turkmen Minister of Agriculture where they tackled means of promoting exchange of expertise and benefitting from the renowned Egyptian expertise in this field. The two officials also reviewed the efforts exerted by the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth in the field of training Turkmen cadres on modern Agricultural techniques.

The delegation also met  with Turkmen Minister of Construction who welcomed Egyptian construction companies in Turkmenstan and also with the Head of the governmental Committee for Tourism and Sports  and  affirmed Turkmenistan's aspiration to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in the field of developing tourism areas.
