On behalf of the Egyptian Prime Minister, Minister of State for Economic Development Dr. Othman Mohamed Othman, will participate in the Second Meeting of the World Islamic Economic Forum, which is scheduled to be held on 5-7 November 2006.

The opening ceremony was attended by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, the Indonesian President, as well as the Malaysian Prime Minister, and the former Australian Prime Minister.

The forum aims at exchanging views and promoting economic cooperation among Islamic countries and other countries as well. Malaysian Prime Minister, Abdullah Badawi, is the Spokesman of the Forum, since the forum is organized by the Asia Strategic Studies Center in Malaysia in cooperation with the Pakistani Government.

Seventy Malaysian businessmen, as well as 400 businessmen from 40 countries, are expected to participate in the forum to strengthen economic and commercial relations among the participating countries. The Third Forum is scheduled to be held in Malaysia in May 2007.
