Political consultations between the Egyptian and Chinese Foreign Ministries was held in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's headquarters, at which Ambassador Shawki Ismail, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, headed the Egyptian side, whereas Ambassador Song Aiguo, Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, headed the Chinese side.
The consultations tackled several issues on the bilateral, regional and international levels. On the bilateral level, enhancing bilateral relations between both countries in all fields during the past and the current year were discussed, as well as expressing content on the significant level of political relations between both sides, and affirming on continuing coordination in all regional and international issues, as well as the common will to vitalize the strategic dialogue between both sides.
Both sides expressed their hope in increasing the volume of trade between both countries to reach 5 billion dollars by 2010, and the Chinese side highlighted that measures are being taken to facilitate the access of the Egyptian products to the Chinese market, which was welcomed by the Egyptian side, that urged the importance of implementing such measures, as soon as possible.
The Egyptian side requested a quick response to Egypt's request in obtaining a production line for Bird Flu vaccine in Egypt. The Chinese side affirmed that the relevant authorities are doing a feasibility study for this project. |
