The Sixth Session of Political Consultations between Egypt and Uzbekistan is scheduled to be held in Cairo on 3-5 October 2006. The Uzbekistani delegation is will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister, who is expected to meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and Minister of International Cooperation, Fayza Aboul Naga.

The Egyptian- Uzbekistani political relations are governed by the Diplomatic Relations Founding Agreement, signed in 1992, during the visit of the Uzbekistani President to Egypt. Both sides established an Economic, Scientific, and Technical Joint Committee, whose Fifth Session will be held in the first semester of the coming year.

Moreover, there is an Egyptian cultural centre in the Uzbekistani capital Tashkent that aims at teaching the Arabic language, and enhancing cultural relations between Egypt and Central Asia in general, and Uzbekistan in particular. Egypt offers annually a number of training scholarships (more than 123 scholarship) in various fields through the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with the Commonwealth Countries.

Uzbekistan is considered as one of Central Asia's most populated countries, and one of the most industrially advanced ones in Asia.
