Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed AboulGheit directed a congratulating message to his Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda on the occasion of the first anniversary of signing the Aceh peace agreement between the Indonesian government and the Ache liberation movement.

Aboul Gheit voiced Egypt's support for the agreement for the   positive impact it would have on peace and stability in Indonesia. He also affirmed Egypt's constant stance on the necessity of preserving the unity and sovereignty of Indonesia.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian affairs, Ambassador AliEl Hefni, stated that the letter directed by the Egyptian minister to his Indonesian counterpart comes within the framework of the strong historical relations between Egypt and Indonesia and as a confirmation of the importance of preserving the security and stability of this great country , which is considered a major pillar of the non-alliance movement and the countries of the Organisation of the Islamic conference whose stability would enable it to play it's role in these important circles and achieve welfare for the friendly Indonesian people.
