3 October 2006…

Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei, Dato Lim Jock Seng, is scheduled to visit Cairo in the period from 6 to 9 October 2006, during which he will meet Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to discuss aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

During his visit, the Bruneian Minister is expected to meet with the Minister of Health and Population, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Al Azhar Grand Imam, and President of Al-Azhar University.

This visit coincides with a tangible boost in relations, since Al Azhar Grand Imam visited Brunei in June 2006, and the first round of political consultations was held in the Capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan, during the period from 2 to 5 August 2006, which enhanced bilateral cooperation between both countries, and opened new fields of cooperation (investment, health, education,…etc).

The Egyptian-Bruneian relations are expected to witness tangible development in the upcoming period, as Bruneian Ministers of Health and Education are expected to visit Cairo to discuss means of promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of health, medicine, and education development.
