Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs, Ambassador Hatem Seif Al-Nasr was on an official visit to Venezuela, during which he conveyed a message from Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit to the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Nicolas Maduro tackled bilateral relations, as well as issues of common concern between both countries.

A political consultation round between Egypt and Venezuela was held at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, on November 12th and 13th 2007. Ambassador Hatem Seif Al-Nasr headed the Egyptian delegation, whereas the Venezuelan side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister, Reinaldo Bolivar. The round's agenda included consultations on bilateral relations and international issues of common concern in the Middle East and Africa, most important of which is the Palestinian issue, as well as means to enhance commercial and economic relations between both countries, particularly in the light of the current cooperation between the Egyptian and Venezuelan diplomacies. The consultations also reviewed the two countries exchanging support for their candidatures in international fora.

Ambassador Hatem Seif Al-Nasr outlined Egypt's keenness on enhancing cooperation relations with Venezuela and continuing coordination and consultation between both countries on various issues of common concern. Ambassador Seif Al-Nasr affirmed the importance of providing the necessary capabilities to develop economic cooperation relations between both countries, not only in the field of trade exchange but also on the investments level, as the Egyptian economy provides several opportunities for attracting foreign investments.

Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs and Organisation of American States Affairs visit to Caracas included a group of activities included holding consultations with Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Middle East Affairs, as well as delivering of a lecture at the Venezuelan Institute for Diplomatic Studies on situations development in the Middle East. The lecture was  attended by several officials form the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry and Government, as well as a number of accredited Ambassadors in Caracas, in addition to representatives of the Venezuelan general and private media.

Noteworthy that the current tour, which includes Colombia and Peru, in addition to Venezuela, is the third round conducted by the Assistant Foreign Minister to Latin American countries during this year, within the framework of the Egyptian diplomacy keenness on enhancing its relations with Latin American countries, as to inform such countries about the investment potentials and opportunities in Egypt.
