Assistant Foreign Minister for American and Organization of American States Affairs, Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr, received, on November 8th, a joint delegation from the US Department of State and Department of Defense. The joint delegation is on a visit to the Middle East region, and includes Deputy Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs Robert Danin, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East Mark Kimmitt.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Seif El-Nasr stated that his discussions with the American delegation aimed at exploring means of promoting bilateral relations. The discussions also tackled several issues enlisted on the Egyptian-American relations' agenda. In this context, Ambassador Seif El-Nasr pointed out that during the meeting he sensed the keenness of the American side to get acquitted with Egypt's stance towards some issues of common concern. The delegation is expected to present a report on the meetings held in Egypt, to the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.
Ambassador Seif El-Nasr outlined that such meetings are held within the context of the periodical contacts between the Egyptian and American sides within the framework of the continuous bilateral dialogue between on all levels, particularly that the upcoming phase will witness developments of concern for both sides, most important of which is Annapolis Meeting.
