2 July 2007….

Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs and the Organization of American States, Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr, received the Latin American Ambassadors accredited to Cairo on 2 July 2007, within the framework of the regular meetings held with the foreign diplomatic corps in Egypt.

During the meeting, Ambassador Seif El-Nasr reviewed the regional and international political developments, as well as the Egyptian diplomatic efforts in dealing with the regional issues. The discussions also tackled the outcomes of the Quartet Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh and the situation in the Palestinian territories, in addition to the latest developments on the Lebanese arena and the Egyptian efforts in dealing with the acute situation in Darfur.

Moreover, Ambassador Seif El-Nasr reviewed the results of the political and economic consultation tours he conducted in several Latin American countries, and discussed how they can be followed up with the Ambassadors accredited to Cairo. He also encouraged the Ambassadors to continue directing more attention towards promoting economic relations with Egypt and to inform the businessmen in their countries about the promising investment opportunities in Egypt.
