Round of political consultations between Egypt and Cuba within the framework of the Troika of the Non-Aligned Movement

Assistant Foreign Minister for Americas Affairs Ambassador Hatem Seif El Nasr conducted a visit to Havana, Cuba, on 2-5 June. During the visit Ambassador Seif El Nasr held a round of political consultations and coordination between the Egyptian and Cuban Foreign Ministries within the framework of the Troika of the Non-Aligned Movement, which Egypt will be presiding next year.

The visit included meetings with several officials from the Foreign Ministry and ruling party. The Assistant Minister's visit was concluded by signing an agreement for diplomatic visas exemption between both countries, to facilitate meetings and coordination between officials in preparation for the upcoming summit in Sharm El Sheikh in July 2009.  

Ambassador Seif El Nasr's visit to Cuba comes within the framework of a tour to reinforce relations with Caribbean and Central American states, which witness political and economic progress and constitute a great voting power in the international organizations (22 states).
