15 June 2008…. Assistant Foreign Minister for the Affairs of the Americas, Ambassador Hatem Seif El Nasr, delivered a message from Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit to his Guatemalan Counterpart, during his meeting with Guatemalan charge d'affaires, Miguel Angel Ibarra. Ambassador Seif El Nasr headed the Egyptian side at the first political consultations session between both Foreign Ministries. Both sides agreed on the importance of promoting commercial cooperation, and exchanging visits between members of commercial and industry chambers in both countries. Egypt welcomed the Guatemalan request of getting acquainted with the Egyptian expertise in the field of tourism, and enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation. Ambassador Seif El Nasr carried out consultations with the Guatemalan Vice President, which focused on consolidating bilateral political, economic and cultural relations. He also held several meetings with President of the Guatemalan Parliament, Minister of Agriculture, Executive Director of Union of Agricultural Chambers and Deputy Minister of Economy. Ambassador Seif El Nasr also delivered a message from Minister of International Cooperation, Fayza Abou El Naga, to the Guatemalan Economy Minister, on the occasion of his assuming his new post. Assistant Foreign Minister also met with some Arab community potential members in Guatemala, as he tackled means to activate the Arab role in Central America and improve the Arab image there. He also reviewed the latest significant political developments on the Arab arena.
