Within the framework of affirming the importance of promoting Egyptian-Canadian relations in the political, economic and scientific fields, and maintaining good relations between both countries, the Fifth Egyptian-Canadian Consultations round is to be held on the 1st of November 2007, at the Foreign Ministry Headquarters. The Canadian side will be headed by Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, James Fox, and the Chief Trade Commissioner, Ken Sunquist.
Egyptian delegation will be headed by Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs and Organization of American States, Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr. The Egyptian delegation includes representatives of Ministries of Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Investment, Electricity and Energy, in addition to senior officials from the Foreign Ministry.
Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr stated that consultations are expected to tackle means of enhancing bilateral relations and coordinating bilateral political stances, particularly with regard to issues of common concern, such as the Peace Process in the Middle East, as well as the current situation in Iraq and Sudan.
Moreover, the meeting will discuss topics presented on the agenda of the UN General Assembly and other international organizations, In addition to trade exchange between both countries, projects of the Canadian Development Agency in Egypt, means of attracting Canadian investments to Egypt, as well as acquainting with the means of technical cooperation with the Canadian side in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. |
