Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs and the Organization of American States, Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr, received the Latin American Ambassadors accredited to Cairo on 24 September 2007, within the framework of the regular meetings held with the foreign diplomatic corps in Egypt.
During the meeting, Ambassador Seif El-Nasr reviewed the regional and international political developments, as well as the Egyptian diplomatic efforts in dealing with the regional issues. The discussions also tackled the outcomes Egypt aspires from international meeting expected to be held in November, as well as the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
The meeting also tackled the issue of Minister Farouk Hosni nomination as UNESCO Director General, and demonstrated his long experience on the international level, and expressed Egypt's keenness on obtaining support for the Egyptian nomination.
The meeting also tackled the cultural cooperation between the Egyptian and Latin America in general. It focused on the archaeological exhibition of the ancient Egyptian monuments and the Mexican monuments of the pre-Spanish colonization era, which is currently held in the Mexican city of Montri, and is expected to be transferred to Mexico City. The exhibition is considered unique as regards to its idea and magnitude. |
