A delegation from the US Congress holds meetings in the Foreign Ministry

Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs and the Organization of American States, Ambassador Hatem Seif El-Nasr, received a delegation from the American House of Representatives, headed by Congressman Brian Baird, who has visited Egypt within the framework of a tour in the region which also included Iraq, Jordan and the Palestinian territories.

 

The meeting, which was attended by senior officials from the Foreign Ministry, also included Head of the Foreign Relations Committee at the People's Assembly, Dr. Mostafa El-Feqi, where they discussed means of developing  the parliamentary bilateral relations.

 

Ambassador Seif El-Nasr stated that the meeting tackled the situation in Iraq and the Palestinian territories, where visions and expectations regarding the future situation were exchanged, in addition to discussing the Egyptian-American bilateral relations and the role required from the Congress to support those relations. Ambassador Seif El-Nasr also commended Congressman Baird, on behalf of Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, for his continuous firm stances supporting Egypt in the Congress. Congressman Baird in turn expressed admiration for the scientific and economic progress he observed during his visit to Egypt, the country he considers a vital partner to the US, and a pivot for stability and security in the Middle East.
