25 June, 2008….

Within the framework of the activities of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science, Arab Experts discussed the proposition of establishing a regional centre for international heritage in Bahrain during their meetings on cultural and natural heritage in Kuwait. The centre would help Arab countries implement the world Heritage Convention, and translate, publish and issue reports relating to world Heritage, particularly that there is no Arabic site to tackle such an issue.

Bahrain presented the details of the proposition since its launching. A Bahraini committee visited China to get acquainted with the centre which was established in Shanghai, 2006. Director General of UNESCO initially approved the proposition, yet the approval should take place during the UNESCO General Conference in 2009, upon completion of the feasibility study.
