11 October 2007….
Under the auspices of the First Lady, Mrs. Susan Mubarak, and Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Province in the German city of Stuttgart, Günther H. Oettinger, an exhibition for Egyptian mummies was inaugurated under the title of "Eternity in the Land of Pharaohs" at the National Museum in the German Province, in the presence of the Province Prime Minister and a number of senior politicians and public figures and thinkers who appreciate the culture and history in Egypt and Germany, in addition to press and media representatives and visitors of the exhibition.
Egypt's ambassador to Berlin, Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony in which he welcomed the attendants and conveyed the regards of Mrs. Mubarak and her wishes that the exhibition turns out to be a success. He outlined that the history of the Egyptian mummies and the fascinating treasures goes back to four thousand years and that this is the first time it is being exhibited to the public in Germany and in the entire world. He expressed his happiness and pride with this unique exhibition, which embodies the ancient Egyptian civilization, especially the arts of embalmment, invented by the Pharaohs. It, moreover, reflects the special and close relation between Egypt and Baden-Württemberg Province, as being the best and most appropriate place to exemplify the blend between the ancient Egyptian civilization and the modern German culture in view of the union between Cairo and Stuttgart, since more than twenty-five years. Furthermore, the University of Stuttgart has honored Mrs. Mubarak the Honorable Citizenship of the Province. On her part, Mrs. Mubarak did not hesitate to agree on holding this unique exhibition under her patronage in cooperation with the Prime Minister of the Province. |
