Makram Mohamed Ahmed , Egyptian Journalists Syndicate chairman visited Qatar from 15-18 January ,2008 upon an invitation from the the Qatari National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage to participate in a symposium on the present and future of the situation of the Arab Press . The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Chairman focused in his remarks on the special situation of the Arab press in general and the Egyptian press in particular from the vocational perspective and its historical evolution, as well as the unprecedented atmosphere encouraging press freedom in Egypt, and the need for Press Code of Ethics to regulate performance, realize the sense of commitment, subjectivity and the need to train a new generation of Journalists.
Mubarak AlKhalifa Secretary General of the National Council for Council received Makram Mohamed Ahmed .He also held a lunch ceremony in the honour of the Egyptian Ambassador in Doha,and the editors in chief of a number of Qatari newspapers , and representatives of the national council for Culture , and Egyptian and Qatari media men.
The Chairman also visited EL Sharq" Qatari newspaper , where he met with the board of editors , and the Egyptian staff there. Ibrahim El Sayed Deputy Editor-in -Chief also held a diner in the Chairman's honour, as he commended the role played by Egyptian media men in various Qatari media.
The Chairman also met with representatives of Egyptian journalists working in Qatar with whom he explored their professional requirements and their suggestions in this regard.
The Egyptian ambassador in Doha also held a lunch in the Chairman's honour at his residence , attended by the Secretary General of the Qatari national Council for Culture, several members of the Council and Egyptian media people.
· Chairman of the state Information Service visits Vienna
Chairman of the SIS visited Vienna during 15-17 January 2008, upon an invitation from the Egyptian media and Culture League in Vienna , the visit included :
- Arranging a meeting for the Egyptian Community at the Egyptian Club , the discussions tackled topics relating to communications between Egyptians living abroad and their counterparts living in Egypt. The discussions tackled the current internal economic , Social and political developments in Egypt.
- Visiting the headquarters of the Austrian television(ORF) . The Deputy chairman of the ERTU participated in presenting modern techniques in the field of T.V programs and direct telecasting , news bulletins . The Chairman welcomed establishing cooperation with Egypt in the technical training field.
- A round table was organized at the Egyptian embassy in Vienna , as well as a working dinner attended by a selected group of journalists and officials from the BBC channel in Vienna . The meeting tackled Egypt's pivotal role in the Peace process , the Iranian nuclear file , Islam in Vienna , political and democratic reform , constitutional amendments , and educational campaigns about birth control and female circumcision in Egypt as well as intellectual property protection measures in Egypt.
Egyptian Saudi joint Subcommittee held for the cooperation agreement between the two countries in the field of youth and sport
A delegation from the National Council for Youth, headed Dr. Mohamd Ibrahim Abdulaal , First Undersecretary at the council visited Saudi Arabia during 13-15 January 2008 to hold the joint Egyptian –Saudi technical subcommittee for youth and sports which have resulted in signing " the executive programme for cooperation agreement for Youth and sports between Egypt and Saudi Arabia for 2008-2009.
- The program included a visit for prince Sultan Bin Fahd , President of the General Presidency for Youth Welfare at the Kingdom , and his Deputy Prince Nawaaf Bin Faisal and field visits for the Youth club , leadership formation institute , Faisal Bin Fahd Olympic complex , and Youth hostels.
Egyptian Cultural Week in Mexico
The Egyptian Embassy in Mexico organized a cultural week, in Centro Insurcentes Centro Comercial, in Mexico, during the period from January 14th to25th 2008, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Egyptian-Mexican diplomatic relations, within the framework of the Embassy's activities in Mexico, on this occasion, throughout the year.
The Egyptian Embassy displayed about 50 papyrus pictures, drawings of the holy family Journey, Egyptian paper and coin currency , stamps, and pictures that portray modern Egypt; it also provided the center with DVD, and CD 's, to broadcast Egyptian songs and music, in addition to tourism news magazines Prism, and Egipto, in addition to some Egyptian flags, and a wall carpets with Tout Ank Amon drawings.
The opening ceremony of the Cultural week was held on January 14th, and witnessed by a big number of invitees. The Egyptian ambassador to Mexico made a speech on this occasion, and the Embassy offered Egyptian food specialties to the guests.
The Egyptian Embassy organizes a Cultural evening in Washington
The Egyptian Embassy in Washington organized a cultural evening , during which it hosted Josef Wegner, Professor of Egyptology, in University of Pennsylvania, n USA, who talked about Temple of Senusert III, in Abydos, in Upper Egypt, as well as the Egyptian Pharaonic monuments that were discovered in this Temple. Professor Wegner also tackled his experience in the field of monuments and pharaonic excavations, during the ten years he spent in Upper Egypt.
A number of American intellectuals and others from different sectors of the the American society who were interested in knowing more about the Egyptian pharaonic civilization and its history were keen to attend this Cultural evening.
Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments visits Algeria
Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Religious Endowments , Dr. Bouabdellah Ghlamallah received Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments f, Dr. Mahmoud Hamdy Zaqzouq in his first official visit to Algeria, on January 20th 2008. Both Ministers praised the historical relations between Egypt and Algeria, and the importance of enhancing cooperation between them in the field of religious affairs. The Egyptian Minister renewed the invitation of the Algerian Minister to participate in the annual meeting of the supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, which will be held in March 2008.
Both Ministers held a consultation session, on January 21st 2008, during which Head of Algerian Government Abdelaziz Belkhadem received the Minister of Religious Endowments on January 22nd 2008.
The Minister of Religious Endowments delivered a lecture entitled "The Islamic Omah on Crossroads" at the University of Algeria. The lecture was attended by Students, Professors, and Media Men. The Ambassadors of the Arabic and Islamic Countries were also invited to attend this Lecture.
Inaugurating the Conference of the prospects of Teaching Arabic in Uzbekistan
At the inauguration ceremony of the Conference which was organized in coordination with the Egyptian Cultural Center in Tashkent, Tashkent Islamic University, and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
The Egyptian Ambassador in Tashkent delivered a speech on the depth and history of the relations between both, followed by speeches of the Presidents of both Universities, and a speech for the Cultural Advisor of the Embassy and the Egyptian Professors who participated in the Conference.
Two Professors of Arabic, Professor Dr. Tarek Saad Shalaby of Ain Shams University, and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ahmad Nakhla Deputy of Alexandria University participated in the Conference.
The Media made a coverage of the events of the Conference which lasted for two days and captured the interest of the Universities, Professors, and Students talking and interested in Arabic language.
The Egyptian experts in Arabic language in Uzbekistan presented research papers specialized in this field. An Arabic-Uzbek dictionary has also been published in cooperation between the Cultural Center and the abovementioned Universities. |
