11 May, 2008…. A delegation from the Egyptian Writers' Union, including Former Head of Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Hamdy El-Konayessi, and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al-Gomhuria newspaper Mustafa El-Qadi, visited China during the period from April 24th to May 3rd 2008. The delegation visited Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an city. This visit is considered the first of its kind in ten years, and a delegation from the Chinese Writers' Union is scheduled to visit Egypt by the end of 2008. During the visit, the delegation met with Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Writers' Union. A cultural symposium was organized for the delegation and Arabic language students of Beijing Foreign Studies University, in addition to several intellectual and press meetings in the cities visited by the delegation. The Minister of Culture nominated Deputy Chairman of the General Egyptian Book Organization, Wahid Mohamed Abdel Megeed, to represent the Ministry of Culture in the OIC Governmental Experts Meeting "in commemoration of the massacres committed against Muslims during the 20th century", upon an invitation from the Islamic Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). The meeting organizes the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, at the World Trade Centre in Istanbul, on May 16th and 17th 2008.
