- The visit made by the Minister of culture, Farouk Hosni and his accompanying delegation to Mexico was largely successful, as the Minister and the President of Mexico inaugurated Isis exhibition for Egyptian artefacts on 27th February. The Mexican President delivered a speech during the inauguration ceremony which was attended by senior state officials, members of the diplomatic corps and public figures, in which he expressed Mexico's cherished relations with Egypt , and highlighted the civilizational and historical affinity between the two countries and their important role internationally as well as Mexico's appreciation to the establishment of a cultural year in Mexico to mark the 50th anniversary of their relations.
- Minister Farouk Hosny delivered a written message from President Mubarak to the Mexican President, as the Minister conveyed the Egyptian President's willingness to meet with his Mexican counterpart, which was greatly welcomed by the latter .The Minister also met with the Mexican Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Culture with whom he discussed bilateral cooperation relations and their future prospects.
- The Mexican Minister of Culture held an evening party on the honour of his Egyptian counterpart and his accompanying delegation in one of the most important culture palaces in the Mexican Capital. Mr. Mohamed Ghoniem coordinator of the Great Egyptian Museum, delivered a lecture to propagate this mega project. Dr Zahi Hawass also delivered another lecture at the Museum of anthropology on Tutankhamoun and Hatshepsut and the recent Egyptian archaeological discoveries which was attended by more tha a thousand people.
The program included several activities including a visit to the Mexican child's museum which is considered one of the most important museums which employ the most up to date technological means , as well as a visit to the Museum of folkloric arts . |
