Holding the first Egyptian-Malaysian Joint Committee

The first Egyptian-Malaysian Joint Committee was held on April the 7th and 8th, presided by Foreign Minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and his Malaysian counterpart. The committee discussed bilateral cultural relations and the various fields of cooperation, which also included the technical, scientific, technological and educational fields as well as the media and the youth and sports fields.

The two sides agreed to renew the executive programme for cultural and scientific cooperation, and on encouraging joint cooperation in the fields deliberated, through participation in the Arab Film Festival, organizing an Egyptian cultural musical week in Malaysia, and promoting the current cooperation between the Egyptian and Malaysian State Information Service.

Both sides endorsed the clauses of the Executive Programme for Cultural Cooperation for the years 2008/2010, most important of which being promoting the bilateral relations in higher education, exchanging scholarships for studying medicine in the Egyptian universities as well as increasing cooperation and exchanging experts in the field of tourism.
