Egyptian- German Year for Science and Technology concludes its activities

A ceremony was held in Berlin was held to celebrate the end of the Egyptian German year for science and technology 2007, with the participation of the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific research ,Dr.Hany Sorour and the German Minister of Education and Scientific research Dr. Schavan.  Egypt participated with a high ranking delegation, which included Dr. Ismail Serag Eldin, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina besides several Heads of the Universities and Research centers. The program included holding a joint press conference, and a lecture given by Dr. Serag Eldin .

The attendees commended the great success of the year within the framework of what Dr.Helal called " the diplomacy of science and technology " , which encouraged Japan to hold a similar  scientific year  with the Egyptian side. The various aspects of cooperation were presented including: Biotechnology, applied sciences, social sciences & water .

A cultural night for the Egyptian- American Artist Diana Calenty

The Egyptian Embassy in Washington organized a Cultural Night on the evening of 4 December 2007, in which the Egyptian American Artist Diana Calenty was hosted . Calenty spent several years in Egypt teaching and developing Egyptian folklore. More than 250 people attended the ceremony including US officials at the Department of State , Ambassadors accredited to the United States, businessmen and members of the diplomatic corps , and Egyptians living in the United States .

ART and Nile and the Voice of America cable networks , made a media coverage of the ceremony.

Calenty also gave an account of her artistic history in Egypt , and her contribution in developing Egyptian folklore , and her role with Reda folklore troop , and her subsequent honouring by the Egyptian government by granting her the Egyptian nationality ,which she considered a great honour, and her later appointment  as director of " Al Fan Al Hadith company  "(which translates modern Art company) for a long time which added touches from the ballet to Egyptian folklore  .  Calenty also indicated that art works as a direct rapprochement channel between nations, she presented selections from her shows on amplifying screens , and an artistic troupe which gave a live performance of several works .

The attendees commended the high standard with which the event was organized , particularly the profound impact reflecting Caleny's love to Egypt on themselves, which can also be considered as the best publicity for Egypt.
