22 June 2008….

The Egyptian embassy in Yaoundé held a celebration to mark Africa day in its capacity as leader of the African group. The celebrations were widely covered by the media and were broadcasted by the Cameroonian television. The newspapers also made a wide coverage of the event , which  was the centre of attraction  and was praised by the Cameroonian Foreign Minister. All the African Ambassadors admired the way the celebrations were held.

The Nubian Drums Band which participated in the celebration had previously participated at the celebrations marking Cameroon's National Day and the joint show presented with the Cameroonian Folk troupe achieved unprecedented success. The celebration which was held for two weeks, had promoted the African image of Egypt, particularly in light of the surprisingly great similarity between the Egyptian- Nubian art and the African arts.
