Inaugurating the Egyptian cultural week in Damascus

The Egyptian cultural week was inaugurated in Damascus on 29 July 2008. The inauguration was attended by the Syrian senior officials topped by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Riyad Naasan Agha, as well as many Arab Ambassadors, the Chinese Ambassador and numbers of Syrian public in addition to the Egyptian community in Syria. An Egyptian delegation presided by Chairman of the National Library and Achieves Dr. Mohamed Saber also attended the inauguration.

Many cultural activities were carried out, including:

  • A show of the traditional Tanora Dance Troupe in Damascus, Aleppo and Hama
  • The week of the Egyptian movie  
  • A seminar entitled "Egypt and Syria: the Common Horizons"
  • Theatrical shows produced by Al Hanager Center for Arts in a number of governorates.

The Syrian Minister delivered a speech in which he highlighted the deep-rooted historic bilateral relations, pointing to the role played by Egypt and Syria in molding the national Arab culture.
