Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif and Sudanese Deputy President Ali Osman Taha headed the Egyptian Sudanese High Joint Committee in Cairo, from 8-13 November,2005.
The Preparatory Committee meetings on the experts’ level which started on 8 November, included officials and representatives of the private sector, and joint ventures from both countries.
The Committee discussed a variety of topics in number of various fields such as political, economic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural fields.
Taxes, customs, investment and infrastructure, oil, fish wealth, animal production, water resources, maritime, land, meteorological fields were also tackled in addition to communication, information technology, mail services, human development, electricity, housing, and construction.
Cultural, educational cooperation and cooperation in the domain of Islamic issues was also dealt with. media, health and medical cooperation, Cooperation in the fields of tourism, natural reserves, youth, insurance social affairs, mother and childhood issues, administrative development, crisis management, consular security, man power and judicial cooperation were also discussed.
Upon concluding the meeting, both parties signed a number of bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields:

An Agreement in the field of cooperation in the field of endowment .

An Agreement for Cooperation between The Egyptian authority on religious opinion (Dar el Ifta) and the Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Waqfs (religious endowments)

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of International Cooperation in both countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Health insurance.

A Memorandum of Understanding for Organizing Communication.

A Memorandum of Understanding regarding Customs.

An Executive Programme for Environmental Cooperation, 2006-2007.
