Within the framework of following up on the Egyptian citizens in Algeria, after the incidents that followed the football match between the Egyptian and Algerian national teams, three work groups comprising representatives of the Egyptian Embassy in Algeria visited the Egyptian gatherings in three Algerian provinces – Oran, Ain Temouchent, Sidi Bel Abbes- to check on the safety of the Egyptians, ensure the regularity of their living conditions, and listen to their demands.
The number of Egyptians in the three abovementioned provinces is around 1000 citizens working in Orascom constructions, Haidilico Electric Installations and Mahda Contractors, in addition to other Egyptian companies operating in the fields of construction and electric installations that carry out projects for the Algerian Government.
The Egyptian workers -whom the Embassy representatives met in the companies' sites- affirmed that their conditions are stable and returned to normal after the latest incidents. They also affirmed that the relations with the Algerians are normal and without problems in the work sites.
The Managers responsible for these projects affirmed that a large number of the Egyptians who traveled to Egypt during the past days expressed their will to return to Algeria after spending the Bairam vacation with their families in Egypt, and if the situation remained stable and the media campaigns –that affect the conditions of the Egyptians in Algeria- calmed down.
The Project Managers highlighted the role of the Algerian security to secure the Egyptian workers that some of them were injured during the incidents that took place.
Charge d' Affaires at the Egyptian Embassy in Algeria, Minister Plenipotentiary Hesham Abd el Wahhab, stated that these three visits were arranged in coordination with Algerian officials from the Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Interior, who cooperated in facilitating the mission of the Embassy representatives during the visit, and promised to continue cooperation to offer all required facilities to the Egyptian community in Algeria.
Within the framework of following up on the return of the Egyptian citizens working in Egyptian companies in Algeria and the workflow of the projects carried out by these companies, the Embassy registered the Egyptians who returned to Algeria after their departure following the incidents that followed the playoff between the Egyptian and Algerian football national teams. The Egyptian workers resumed their work at their sites with their Algerian brothers in an atmosphere of fraternity.
Most of the directors of the Egyptian companies -operating in Algeria- returned to the Algerian lands to arrange the return of the Egyptian workers to the work sites and ensure the regularity of the workflow in the companies' projects in order to turn in these projects within their respective deadline.
Minister Plenipotentiary Hesham Abd el Wahhab stated that the Algerian authorities shows cooperation in what is related the Egyptian community in Algeria, and readiness to facilitate the rapid resumption of work at the projects being implemented in Algeria, which serves the interests of both countries. The Charge d' Affaires added that work did not stop in a number of work sites affiliated to Egyptian companies, whose Egyptian workers preferred to stay in Algeria during the Bairam vacation and carry on work with their Algerian brothers.
Noteworthy is that the number of registered Egyptian companies -operating in Algeria- in the Commercial Office affiliated to the Egyptian Embassy is 47 companies, employing –according to the Labor Office at the Egyptian Embassy- about 6000 Egyptians and 3000 Algerians
