In view of the draft resolution, to be put to vote to the European Parliament on 18 January, which includes flagrant intervention in Egypt's internal affairs, the speaker of the Egyptian People's Assembly, Ahmed Fathi Sorour, announced the Egyptian Parliament's rejection of the arrogant language of the draft, and its refusal to consider the European Parliament a court for the peoples. Sourour added that this draft used a language unknown to parliamentarian norms. He stressed that the Egyptian People's Assembly's cooperation with the EU Parliament is based on the language of dialogue, but this draft deviated from such language, which harms the Egyptian-European historical relations.
Sourour also underlined that, in view of this resolution, and the adoption of such stances, the Egyptian People's Assembly is currently considering boycotting the EU Parliament and the Euro-Mediterranean Council and all their meetings, as long as the EU Parliament preferred the language of orders and arrogance, and refused that of dialogue. |
